Photographing Lunar Eclipses

There will be a total lunar eclipse on January 21, 2019. Nikon USA provides tips as to how to expose lunar eclipse images. Regarding multiple exposure images, i.e. composites, they suggest mounting the camera on a tripod so that the frame can capture the entirety of the eclipse start to finish without moving the frame. The chart they provide can be used as a reference for certain settings, but they are estimations. Adjust exposure as the eclipse progresses, as it will be darkest at peak. A remote with interval controls is encouraged. You can stack the images in post to create an image like the one above.
